Hola todos! My name is Estrella. In addition to being an associate therapist at Sage, I’m also the Billing Manager for the practice. I started working in mental health billing back in 2018, when I was a first year grad student at Roosevelt University. What originally was a means to pay for tuition quickly turned into a consulting business servicing 15+ practices all over the country. It was so cool to see therapists become first time business owners. I was inspired by the ways they aimed to decenter capitalism within the healthcare field. 

I started working for Sage Therapy as the Billing Manager back in 2023 when  I was completing my internship. After I graduated from Roosevelt in 2024, I transitioned into a hybrid role of clinician and administrative leader. I carry my clinical background in every aspect of the billing process. I recognize that we are working with humans navigating a system that isn’t very user friendly and can really impact mental health. My goal in managing the billing department is to lead with compassion and find ways to create accessible mental health care for prospective and existing clients all while ensuring the financial wellbeing of the practice. 

When I’m not working at Sage, I love spending time with my 1 year old daughter, my dog, two cats and my lovely spouse, Zach! We love going for walks along the trail, visiting the Brookfield Zoo and trying new foods. You’ll never catch me falling asleep without an asmr video on in the background!
