Friday, August 23rd 2024
Desire Discrepancy is one of the most common concerns for couples in therapy. However, it can be difficult for clients to find relief due to the complex nature of our sexualities and the many barriers that can interfere with sexual satisfaction in a partner relationship. In this one-hour workshop, we will begin to explore some of the causes of mismatched desire as well as some common ways to approach work with both individuals and couples experiencing desire discrepancy.

Training Goals
- Define desire discrepancy and understand some of the different ways it can manifest for clients in both individual and couple’s treatment.
- Discuss multiple factors that may contribute to discrepancies in one’s sexual life.
- Explore strategies for addressing desire discrepancy at several levels of interventions but utilizing the PLISSIT model.
- Reflect on our own attitudes towards sexuality and how bias may impact our work around sexual health.
