About

Caroline Hickey

"I strive to empower clients by fostering a safe, supportive space where they can explore their experiences, deepen self-understanding, and create meaningful change."

Why I became a therapist

My curiosity about human nature and how people are shaped by their environment and experiences led me to the field of mental health. My journey to becoming a therapist was influenced by my early experiences of grief and loss, and the vital role therapy played in navigating these challenges. Throughout my personal and professional life, I’ve witnessed the power of human connection. Feeling truly seen, understood, and accepted can be profoundly healing. The resilience and insight I gained from therapy empowered me to pursue this meaningful career, where I have the privilege of supporting others' personal growth. I strive to empower clients by fostering a safe, supportive space where they can explore their experiences, deepen self-understanding, and create meaningful change. Being part of someone’s healing is incredibly special, and I am honored to walk alongside you on this journey.

Who I work with

I work with individuals and families experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions, trauma, grief and loss, relational difficulties, and attachment challenges. I especially enjoy supporting young and emerging adults as they navigate the challenges of this life stage, including identity development, relationship dynamics, and the “quarter-life crisis.” I am passionate about helping children and adolescents cope with grief and loss, changes in family structure, strained parental relationships, and interpersonal difficulties. Additionally, I have experience working with suicidal ideation, self-injurious behaviors, childhood trauma, and sexual assault. With families, I focus on improving communication, addressing dysfunctional dynamics and patterns, and supporting parents in managing challenges that impact caregiving. I am committed to providing inclusive, affirming care that welcomes and honors all identities and experiences.

"My therapeutic style blends warmth, playfulness, and humor with deep empathy, acceptance, and respect."

Working With Me

My therapeutic style blends warmth, playfulness, and humor with deep empathy, acceptance, and respect. I aim to meet you where you are, while also supporting meaningful change by fostering insight, self-awareness, and purposeful action. My work is grounded in the belief that each person possesses the capacity for growth and in the healing power of the therapeutic relationship. I strive to cultivate an authentic connection built on trust, collaboration, and appreciation of your strengths, perspectives, and experiences. I use an integrative approach, drawing from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Attachment Theory, and other modalities to best support your treatment goals. Each session is tailored to your current needs, which may include exploration and emotional processing or psychoeducation and skill-building. My goal is for you to leave our work together feeling empowered, grounded in yourself, and equipped to navigate life with clarity, self-compassion, and resilience.
