About
“As your clinician, I hope to lead you down your own path to peace and self-acceptance.”

Why I became a therapist
Hola todos. My name is Estrella (she/ella). My path to become a therapist started when I was 16 and struggling with some pretty intense mental health challenges. Being a fat, queer, Hispanic, anxiously attached human led to what I now understand as medical discrimination and disregard for the ways in which my system tried to survive. I was pathologized and my symptoms weren’t taken seriously. My personal experiences navigating a white centric, straight sized medical space has channeled my passion to serve as a support and advocate for those of us who fall outside the “norm”. Those of us who are: people of color, queer folx, first gen clients, fat identified folx, those who are seen as "high-functioning" and therefore never checked in on and those perceived as "too much" or "too emotional". My goal as a clinician is to provide the emotional safety needed to access self-compassion, trust and healing.

Who I work with
I provide individual therapy to clients of all ages; teens, emerging adults, established adults and the aging population. I’m particularly equipped in working with clients struggling with disordered eating, body image concerns, OCD, childhood trauma, generational trauma and minority stress. I carry a deep commitment to serving the BIPOC community, fat-identified folx, and the LGBTQ+ community.

“I show up in the world as a fat, queer, Latina woman and my identity as a therapist reflects that. Embedded in my therapeutic approach are values centered on Fat Liberation, antiracism, feminism and anti-capitalistic practices. “
Working With Me
I show up in the world as a fat, queer, Latina woman and my identity as a therapist reflects that. Embedded in my therapeutic approach are values centered on Fat Liberation, antiracism, feminism and anti-capitalistic practices. I believe the therapeutic relationship is one of the cornerstones of effective therapy. My relational approach means you'll get to know parts of me! You'll hear about my pets, certain aspects of my experience with disordered eating and OCD, my struggles in transitioning to predominantly white institutions and more. The focus here is to demonstrate a level of personal understanding for what you may be going through or feeling. My self-disclosure is always rooted in how this may benefit YOU. They therapy space is always focused on YOU. My therapeutic framework is rooted in Internal Family Systems (parts work) and understanding the ways in which our bodies hold trauma. I subscribe to the empirical data suggesting that our earliest attachments shape the way we relate to the world and ourselves. Through this particular exploration, we’ll find ways to rebuild our relationship with ourselves and others and release what is no longer benefiting our system.
