About

Jessie Sisneros

“I am deeply committed to the continual practice of providing culturally competent and social justice-focused care.”

Why I became a therapist

I’m passionate about helping others feel seen, heard, and validated, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to do so. I believe people are the product of the world around them. Together, we can explore familial, cultural, and social factors—and how these issues influence you. When we understand how we can be influenced, we can begin to facilitate empathy for our emotions, thoughts, behaviors, and that of others. I believe that we are always trying to survive, and sometimes we do not know that the choices we make for our survival may actually cause long-term harm. I am a therapist, life-long student, Chicagoan, dog mom, and human. Here’s a place for us to be human together.

Who I work with

Primarily, I work with adult and young adult individuals. I work alongside folks who experience anxiety, disordered eating, relationship issues, body image concerns, trauma and PTSD, women’s issues, and those navigating different life transitions such as the “quarter life crisis.” I also have experience working with individuals and couples for sex therapy. Additionally, I am LGBTQIA+ allied and a sex-positive clinician. I am deeply committed to the continual practice of providing culturally competent and social justice-focused care.

Working With Me

I encourage healing through non-judgmental compassion, psycho-education, and mindfulness. I practice through a feminist theoretical lens, although I embrace integrative approaches to best suit your unique identity. From this lens, I pull interventions from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and parts work. My work is also highly inspired by Dr. Kristin Neff’s research on self-compassion.
